South Moravia Region (Czech Republic)

Work contacts with South Moravia Region were one of the first established by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region, opened shortly after its establishment. Discussions between the Bratislava Self-Governing Region Chairman and the South Moravian Region Chief Executive Officer confirmed enough interest for both regions to sign an agreement on co-operation that would focus on the respective sectors of education, youth, tourism, culture and SMEs, exchange of information from management of the self-governing region and the latest information from various events, etc.
The co-operation Agreement between Bratislava Self-Governing Region and the South Moravian Region was signed on June 16th, 2003, in Brno. Following this Agreement, close and fruitful co-operation between regions commenced in the area of youth and sports, culture, tourism (reciprocal participation at international tourism fairs, wine routes, etc).
In 2006, a new project of joint press conferences enriched the co-operation between these two regions. The first joint press conference was held in Brno, with the participation of Mr. Vladimír Bajan, Chairman of Bratislava Self-Governing Region and Mr. Stanislav Juránek, South Moravian Region Chief Executive Officer.
Cooperation within CENTROPE successfully continues – Central European Region - a free association of 16 partner towns and regions from Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic, was established in 2004 in Kittsee, when the highest representatives of these regions and towns signed a joint declaration.
